Chemical Sensitivity
It is estimated that 15% of the population suffers from sensitivities to chemicals. Research indicates that toxins in our environment are linked not only to asthma, heart disease and cancer, but chemical sensitivities, as well. Although conventional medicine often treats this condition as a psychiatric illness, much evidence exists to indicate that environmental toxins disrupt the body’s “ground regulation system” (a communication network of connective tissue, immune, neurological and hormonal systems), resulting in chemical sensitivity also referred to as environmental illness and originally as multiple chemical susceptibility.
Our Approach
At EcoLogical Internal Medicine we understand the challenges of this illness. We take an environmental history to determine the extent of environmental impact on your health and can assess blood and urine for the presence of toxins. We help you minimize the effects of environmental toxins on your health through Environmental Medicine. We use diet education, food sensitivity elimination, vitamins and nutritional supplementation to restore your health. Osteopathic Medicine can be beneficial to chemically sensitive patients by restoring the “ground regulation system”, balancing the nervous system and alleviating symptoms. We also use meditation and breathing exercises to further restore balance to the body.
Please note: EcoLogical Internal Medicine does not participate in litigation. Our goal is to restore your health and help you function in your world again.
