Rheumatoid Arthritis/Osteoarthritis

The most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis, is a degeneration of joint cartilage and bone. Rheumatoid arthritis is characterized by joint inflammation, swelling, and destruction. Conventional treatment for rheumatoid arthritis may include drugs that are carcinogenic and suppress the immune system. Conventional osteoarthritis treatment focuses on pain control. In neither case is the underlying cause addressed.

Our Approach
At EcoLogical Internal Medicine, we look for and address the underlying cause of arthritis with the goal of improving joint mobility and function by using natural arthritis treatments. We work with you to optimize anti-inflammatory foods by prescribing healthy diet plans that support healthy cartilage. We diagnose and eliminate food sensitivities that may be associated with joint pain and inflammation. We prescribe vitamins and nutritional supplements to correct nutritional deficiencies, restore joint health and reverse inflammation. In some cases we may recommend intravenous nutrients to address inflammation and maximize nutrient delivery to the joints and tissue.

Osteopathic Medicine can also be used to restore blood flow and maximize oxygen and nutrient delivery to the musculoskeletal system. In many cases Osteopathic Medicine is a very effective treatment.
